Tea Shows Its Healing Powers with Babies and Colic
Chamomile tea has long been known as a soothing tea, but many may not know exactly what it soothes or why it works so well. According to studies, Chamomile eases intestinal spasms which would make it the perfect home remedy for babies that are suffering from Colic. As the cost is extremely affordable, it is as least worth the effort to try it.
Anahad O’Connor (The New York Times) wrote a great piece back in August about this very subject. He cites a study by the American Academy of Pediatrics that was done in 2007 that performed a study on children that were two to eight weeks old and were suffering from Colic. With no ill effects, over 50% of the children that were afflicted showed signs of improvement. This was a 100% improvement over the control group. That is pretty impressive no matter how you look at it.
With all of the positive press that tea continues to get for the wonders of green tea and the anti-oxidants that are present in various forms of tea, you seriously have to consider making tea a part of your regular diet if you have not already. There are plenty of adults that are walking around with stomach problems that could probably benefit from a daily dose of Chamomile just as a colicky baby would.
Sometimes the simplest of cures are right in front of our face and we don’t even realize it. Tea has qualities that have been known to many different cultures for many years, but this side of the pond is just starting to figure them out. We would all be well served to get tea into our diets in some form each and every day so that we can enjoy its benefits and live a healthier life.
