Kusmi Detox Tea is a product of Kusmi, the renowned Parisian producers of Russian style tea. Detox, a blend of green tea, yerba mate, and lemon grass, is designed to support both physical and emotional health. It also helps you feel more energetic and boosts your immune system with the help of antioxidants. These antioxidants come from both the green tea and the yerba mate contained in this unique blend.

Green tea’s health properties have been the subject of many scientific studies that tout tea’s benefits. Drinking tea, either green or black, has been shown to help deter tooth decay because of tea’s fluoride content. Green tea has also been shown to support cardiovascular health, help prevent cancer, and act as a mood enhancer. Green tea has been associated with combating health issues throughout the body.

Yerba mate is an herb that is rising in popularity in the United States due to the results of recent health studies. Yerba mate contains more antioxidants than green tea, but they are of a different type. It can be even more stimulating than coffee, even though it has less caffeine, possibly because it is metabolized differently. South Americans have consumed yerba mate as a healthful herb for many generations in order to treat numerous ailments.

Kusmi Detox tea comes in 4-ounce and 8-ounce tins or in boxes of 20 muslin tea bags. The tins are sealed with a tamper-proof plastic film over a tight-fitting metal lid that keeps the tea fresh. The tea inside has large pieces of yerba mate, whole rolled green tea leaves, and straight pieces of lemon grass. The fragrance of the dry leaf is wonderful and woodsy with back notes of lemon that are both earthy and refreshing.

The liquid is brownish green and rather cloudy with the same woodsy yet refreshing fragrance as the dry leaf. The earthy taste may not be for everyone, but it is a good, rich type of earthiness that many find comforting. One steeping note, however- the label says to brew the tea at 176 to 194 degrees F. Since this is too harsh for green tea, soak the tea in cold water before adding the hot water.

This is a good tea for those who want to boost their immune system or who want a cozy drink. It will give you a strong mental energy boost in the morning of if you feel fatigued. It is not a good tea for late in the afternoon if you are sensitive to caffeine, however. Also, do not wait until you are sick before you begin to drink it; start drinking it immediately. The antioxidants need time to build up your immune system before they can fight illnesses.
