With its lace curtains, elaborate bone china, and reproduced Victorian wallpaper, the Camellia Tea Room resembles a piece of antiquity. Located in historic downtown Benicia, the establishment prides itself on ivory table clothes and fresh flowers on each table. It is the ideal setting to realize the fantasy of the traditional afternoon tea for one person or a group. They serve lunch in addition to afternoon tea and all their food is made fresh daily in their kitchen.

The Camellia Tea Room offers a traditional tea of scones with jam and Devon cream, finger sandwiches, and sweets. They also serve a Savory Tea that includes an assortment of finger sandwiches along with the customer’s choice of tea. Their Cream Tea consists of scones, jam, and Devon cream, again with a choice of tea. Patrons can also choose to have the Sweet Tea, which is simply tea served with an assortment of sweets.

Children’s birthday parties include a dress up trunk complete with jewelry, hats, and boas to create more fun. The tearoom serves children’s tea on the traditional three-tiered tray with peanut butter sandwiches and individual pots of tea or lemonade. Camellia Tea Room allows parents to bring their own cake and they wave the slicing fee for children’s parties. The price of this tea is $20.00 per person, not including gratuity, with a minimum of five children required.

The Camellia Tea Room also serves bridal and baby shower teas at a price of $22.00 per person. They add a gratuity of 18% to the bill and they prohibit entertainment and games. Customers may bring their own cake and the tearoom does not charge a slicing fee for shower packages. They provide both a cake table and gift table if the customer chooses to have them. The Camellia Tea Room requires a minimum of five people for a bridal or baby shower package.

Another outstanding feature of the Camellia Tea Room is that they serve forty-one different types of tea. This includes eight different herbal teas for those who do not want to consume caffeine. This alone makes it worth the visit if you happen to be in the South Bay area. While there, you will also enjoy the beauty of the restored 1897 building housing the tearoom. The Camellia Tea Room is located at 828 First Street, Benicia, California, 94510, phone (707)746-5293.
