Located in the Historic District of Medina, Ohio, Miss Molly’s Tea Room and Gift Shop is a piece of the past. The lavish decor makes you feel as though you’ve stepped right into the Victorian period. Wallpaper with bold rose print covers many of the walls and Tiffany-style light fixtures hang from the ceiling. Elegant laces and fine china grace the tables and selves in all directions. It’s a place that makes you want to sit down, relax, and be waited on.

That’s exactly what the staff there wants you to do, relax and be waited on. Miss Molly’s is determined to give their customers good food and a pleasant atmosphere in which to enjoy it. Provided you make a reservation, the hostess will seat you promptly and the service is immediate. You can choose simply to have tea and scones, or you can order a full meal. They also have a children’s menu that includes a decorate-it-yourself cookie with each kid’s meal.

The menu also offers some dishes you aren’t likely to find anywhere else. Their list of side salads included a pretzel salad, a layered salad with a crushed pretzel crust. Its center consists of fluffy cream and strawberries in Jello, all topped with whipped cream and dusted with nuts. They bake fresh scones daily, but you can buy day-old scones to take home at half price. All of their desserts are homemade; the peanut butter pie is a big favorite with kids and adults.

The tea menu also has a number of good choices, both in teabags and as loose-leaf tea. You can get some of the classic black teas, Darjeeling, English Breakfast, and Earl Grey. Ceylon, Irish Blend, and a number of flavored teas are available in the loose-leaf form. There are also quite a few non-tea beverages including herbal teas, hot chocolate, soda, and even gourmet coffee. Miss Molly’s Tea Room and Gift Shop is not to be missed, even if you don’t like tea.
