Have you ever heard of Kombucha?
Have you ever heard of the word Kombucha? It's also known as SCOBY, Mushroom, Tea Beast and even Mother and Baby. It name may sound a little weird but it's really a very interesting type of traditional food. You can make your very own Kombucha - there are recipes for that, but they can also be bought from health stores and other online stores if you're still not sure that you can make one.
They say that Kombucha is a mushroom but it's not really a mushroom because it's in fact a symbiotic relationship between a number of beneficial bacteria and special yeast cultures. It ferments to produce the sweet kombucha tea - a carbonated beverage that is used for over two thousand years already and it's used as a beneficial tonic as well.
The Kombucha tea is not only a plain beverage. It also has many health benefits similar to the one on yogurt and fermented vegetables. At first, you will find the taste a bit different but when you got used to it, you will find it as a good substitute for soda. It's more nutritious and helps detoxify the liver, prevent acid reflux and it will also help recovering alcoholics to reduce alcohol cravings. It also a source of vitamin B and a lot more!
So instead of drinking those usual carbonated and alcoholic drinks, why don't you get a glass of Kombucha? It's definitely a healthy choice for everybody. Just a word of precaution - if you want to drink Kombucha, you also have to start slow because you might react with its detoxifying properties.
