Will Gourmet Coffee be the Deciding Factor in the Fast Food Breakfast war?
Whether it started with Starbucks or the fast food restaurants, it is hard to say. It seems that some fast food chains were losing breakfast business to establishments with better coffee. After all, who wanted to stop twice on the way to work, one place for coffee and another to eat? People were apparently growing content with a mere muffin or croissant as long as the coffee was good.
The next thing we knew, Jack-in-the-box had their own coffee, which Jack introduced in a commercial. You may not remember the commercial, but you likely remember, “It’s hot, it’s fresh, and it doesn’t cost four bucks.” This was an obvious dig at Starbucks, whose regular coffee does not cost $4.00, though their coffee drinks often do. Since then the breakfast war has raged in an ever-escalating cycle of upgrades to one chain or another.

Review of Andala Coffee House, Cambridge, MA.
The Andala Coffee House occupies a beautiful two-story building at 286 Franklin St, Central Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts. The lyrical title is the name of the nightingale’s song in Arabic, highly appropriate for this Middle Eastern style cafe. The unique decor of this coffee house is unlike any other eatery seen in Cambridge or Greater Boston. The owners of establishment have created this environment in order to reflect the tradition and culture of Old Jerusalem.
With its feeling of openness and space, the interior resembles some of the exquisite architecture the Moors created in Spain. Oriental-style throw rugs that look as though they might turn into magic carpets cover the hardwood floors. The centerpiece of one room is a pillar-legged wooden table intricately inlaid with geometric shapes and surrounded by slatted chairs. A large brass samovar, the traditional Arabian way of serving tea, stands elegantly on the ordering counter.

Black Mountain Gold coffee is a product of the Rogers Gourmet Coffee and Tea Market. They make several other product lines as well such as San Francisco Bay Coffee, a line of gourmet coffees. San Francisco Bay Coffee comes in many flavors and sizes and is available in some grocery stores. You can also purchase 3-pound “supersaver” bags of San Francisco Bay Coffee at Costco stores nationwide.
