The Best Way to Store Coffee

This is a question that every coffee lover wants to know and there is simply one answer, AIR TIGHT! There is a reason that your coffee comes in vacuum sealed bags and containers, because it keeps it fresh. Now while the coffee obviously loses some of that the moment it is opened, if you reduce the time it is out and can reseal it, you greatly increase your chances of having a fresh tasting cup of coffee each and every time.

It really doesn't matter if you are using your coffee every day or if you are just having a cup once a week, you need to keep it fresh. The best way to do this is with a foodsaver system. They are relatively inexpensive and they will pay for themselves many times over. Furthermore, it is the only easy way and full proof method to give you a true seal.

Most foodsaver systems will not only come with bags, but also with canisters. Now depending upon how often you drink coffee will dictate what measure you take to preserve it. If you are a regular drinker, the canister will work great.

Since the coffee is not going to have a very long lifespan, opening and closing the container each day will not be that big of an issue. And even though it is air tight, since you are constantly opening the canister, the freshness is decreased every time it happens. If your coffee lasts for less than 2 weeks, this is the method for you.

Now if you only occasionally use your coffee, think about preserving it in both the canister and in bags. You can divide up your coffee as soon as you break the seal into portions. If you have one cup a week, make up a dozen or so bags with enough coffee for about 4 or 5 pots. When you break the seal on a bag, dump it into a canister and reseal it until it is all gone. The bags will be air tight and will hold the coffee much longer than if you were to expose the whole lot to air each and every time.

There is nothing like a fresh cup of coffee, regardless of how often you drink it. On the other hand, there is nothing worse than coffee that is stale and old. Invest in a foodsaver system and your coffee will last much longer and stay fresher.
