You have probably seen the bags of Black Mountain Gold Coffee in your local grocery store and passed them by. It is very easy to assume that the coffee in those shiny gold convenience packets is cheap “office coffee.” However, once you try these little bags of flavor, you will most likely change your mind. The coffee inside them is well roasted and equally well flavored and the convenience of the pre-measured bags is great.

Black Mountain Gold coffee is a product of the Rogers Gourmet Coffee and Tea Market. They make several other product lines as well such as San Francisco Bay Coffee, a line of gourmet coffees. San Francisco Bay Coffee comes in many flavors and sizes and is available in some grocery stores. You can also purchase 3-pound “supersaver” bags of San Francisco Bay Coffee at Costco stores nationwide.

For those who are health or environmentally conscious, Rogers also has a line of certified organic coffees. Their Zen blend, which is part of this line, was voted Best Ground Coffee by Real Simple magazine. If you are an espresso drinker, do not miss trying their dark roasted Hurricane Espresso. If you are unsure about a flavor of coffee but want to try it, Rogers has 2-oz. organic coffee samples.

The Black Mountain Gold line, however, is extremely handy when you want the convenience of having prepackaged coffee. It is exactly the right amount of coffee to make an 8-10 cup pot in an automatic drip machine. It is perfect for the days when you do not have time to stand and count measures of coffee. All you have to do is zip the pouch open and pour it into the top of the coffee maker.

While you might expect a rather dull flavor from coffee in a pouch, Black Mountain Gold will change your mind. The flavors are rich and full-bodied with a definite presence in the mouth. The Irish Cream coffee feels creamy and the aroma is similar to that of the famous liqueur. The flavoring does not hide the strong back note of the Arabica coffee base, which holds its own well.

This is a good coffee for either breakfast or the afternoon, with or without whitening and sugar. Sweetening enhances the Irish cream flavor and makes it more closely resemble the flavor of the liqueur. However, this particular Irish cream coffee is extremely drinkable with nothing at all added to it. You can purchase the individual packets on the Roger’s website for a dollar a packet and you can also find them at grocery stores.
