Can Coffee Actually Cure Hepatitis C?
The healing powers of tea are posted everywhere, including this site, but it is a rare case that you hear about coffee being used for its healing powers. Well look no more as some research has recently been done that shows Hepatitis C patients actually benefited from the consumption of coffee.
Your eyes are not playing tricks on you, this is actually a true story. The NCI (National Cancer institute) conducted a study and 53% of the patients that had Hepatitis C were found to have decreased liver disease progression than those that did not drink coffee. Oddly enough, they also tested patients that were green and black tea drinkers and they showed no similar signs.
The fact that the tea drinkers did not enjoy the same benefits would pretty much rule out the fact that caffeine all by itself had something to do with it, especially because of the black tea being involved, which has a much higher caffeine content that the green tea. While green tea is known to help with many health issues, HCV is apparently not one of them.
Full study results will be disclosed in November, but this is very promising news as it is always good to hear that coffee does indeed have some benefits. While this may not be something that will affect everyone, at least there is a small portion of those that are suffering from some affliction that can benefit from coffee. As more studies are done, you can be assured that the benefits of coffee drinking will continue to be explored.
