It would be very nice to hear if you have finally decided to put up your very own coffee shop. This is great news! One of the most important things that you need to have is a basic idea or understanding on what to consider when looking at your equipment needs.
Sometimes, it’s not easy to know whether you are making the right choices or not so do yourself a favor and save yourself from trouble - don’t buy any second-hand equipment yet unless you are sure of the age, who used it, where it came from and if the maintenance record can be verified. You got to be very careful about this. Buying second hand is really not bad at all, you can always upgrade in the future.
Even if you are buying equipment from a friend, don’t be too laidback. You still have to inspect it thoroughly to prevent misunderstandings and conflicts in the future. You are not yet sure if the equipment is properly maintained. Don’t be shy to ask your friend when and where he bought it. You have to believe that this is a wise step and it’s also part of the process.
These are a few other things that you have to ask yourself before purchasing other equipments for your new business:
1. Decide whether you want a cash register or real-time POS (point of sale) computer?
2. What is the type of Espresso Machine that you think would be the best choice?
3. What model of Espresso Grinders would you get?
4. Will you get the full-scale version of Bulk Coffee Grinder or the shorter one?
5. What kind of coffee maker would suit you?
6. What would be the perfect pastry case for your store?
7. What are the features of the blender that you need?
8. What will be the appropriate size of your under counter refrigerator?
9. Do you still need a storage refrigerator?
10. What should be the size of your oven?
There are also a lot of other things to consider such as:
1. Furniture
2. Phone
3. Radio system
4. Credit card machine
5. Tables
6. Sinks
If you have some other equipment in mind, you could always add it up on your list.
