A Day In the Life of the Impatient Coffee House Customer
It happens almost every morning in coffee spots across the U.S, maybe even around the world. It seems as though the entire city has lined up at your favorite coffee counter and they all get there before you. All you want is a nice hot cup of coffee before you make your drive to work. However, everybody in line in front of you wants one of those fancy coffee drinks that take longer to make.
You could drive through a McDonald’s or grab a cup at 7-Eleven, but you want your coffee from your place. Besides, what would people think if you brought in coffee without a name like Starbucks or Peet’s on the side? They would think you were having financial problems and could not afford the good stuff. They would probably look at you pitifully and ask you how things were at home.
Therefore, you will stand and wait your turn amongst the drinkers of cafe macchiato and lattes. Yet you know it is not fair when all the barista needs to do for you is pour coffee into a cup. Around you, others chatter on about their silly lives, while all you want is your coffee. You cannot help thinking the line would move faster if they would just stop talking and distracting the counter help.
At last, even the sound of the steamer sputtering is getting on your last nerve. You needed your coffee five minutes ago to be on time for work, but they have only served two people. Then a tea drinker, wherever she came from, brings everything to a halt asking which tea they serve. You calm yourself by realizing that tea drinks have rights too, unfortunately.
The final straw is the person who does not seem to have been in a coffee bar before. Seven in the morning is not the time for a person’s first coffee bar menu experience. While the coffee novice is learning the difference between cafe au lait and a cafe breva, the line stands still. Unlike the man in this video, try remain calm when the beginner orders a fruit smoothie instead.
