There was a study recently that says coffee boost is just all in your mind. The news came from the University of Bristol, UK. The researchers said that the stimulating effects of caffeine is just an illusion. Before you get disappointed and protest that this is not true, let's find out how this interesting topic came out to be.
The study involved volunteers who went "cold turkey" before they were given a caffeine or placebo capsule that contains corn flour. Their responses were tested and there was only a small difference between the caffeine and placebo group when it comes to being alert. Half of the volunteers were not really coffee drinkers and half are high consumers. Before and after their drink, the levels of anxiety, alertness and headache were recorded. Computer tasks were also given to them and that involves memory testing, vigilance and attentiveness.
